Miss Pre-Teen North Dakota International 2018 - Jocelyn Birklid
Jocelyn is a 4th grader. She loves Math, Science, Art, and reading. She enjoys many creative hobbies. She loves to draw. (Especially birds). In the summer, Jocelyn grows a vegetable garden with her little brother. She has even gotten a few grand champion ribbons at the county fair with her vegetables. But Jocelyn's personal favorite is her flower garden. The Birklid's have a lot of deer coming through the yard and Jocelyn found out the hard way that she needed to plant deer resistant flowers like Marigolds and Zinnias and other deer resistant plants.
Jocelyn has been playing the piano since first grade and she loves it. She played piano during the Christmas Eve service at Church.
Jocelyn is growing up on a farm. Her entire family farms. Farming is a huge part of North Dakota and she is proud to be a farmer. Jocelyn's dad grows wheat, corn, soybeans, edible beans and edible peas.
Jocelyn spends the summer weekends at the lake in MN. She absolutely loves when her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins come to the lake. She has so much fun playing in the water and spending family time together.
Jocelyn is involved in 4-H. The club that she is apart of won Club of the Year in 2017. She has a good time volunteering and getting projects ready for the county fair.
Jocelyn also takes a dance class. She loves to dance on stage during the big spring recital.
Jocelyn has a younger brother named Charlie. He is 4 years younger than Jocelyn but he is one of her best friends. They love to play Legos together. They have a Lego City in the basement that is huge. Its the perfect combination of Charlie's Lego City and Jocelyn's Lego Friends.
An interesting fact about Jocelyn is she designed her own gown and fun fashion for this pageant. Jocelyn's grandma, mom, and herself went to Minneapolis to a big fabric warehouse where she found her "dream fabric". The hot pink dress with floral skirt you see is the dress I designed and my grandma sewed. Jocelyn is so lucky and blessed to have a grandma that is able to do that for her.
